Diabetes is a disease attributed to high levels of sugar in the blood. There are two types of diabetes namely Type 1 and Type 2. The causes of Type 1 diabetes are undetermined while there are a number of]various causes for Type 2. Insulin produced in the pancreas transports glucose from the bloodstream into the muscles, fat and liver cells to be utilized as fuel for the proper body functioning. Diabetes exists when our bodies have very little insulin, exhibit good resistant to insulin or in some instances, both of these causes.

Our genetic makeup plays a key role in the determination whether we are susceptible to diabetes Type 2 or not. If your family households like your parents, brother or sister are afflicted with diabetes then you may likely inherit the disease. Diet contributes a key factor. Taking in in excess level of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins will put you at risk of acquiring diabetes.

Obesity, especially in in the case of minors, is another major contributor. Physicians encourage you to maintain a good weight whether you are an adult or a child.

Other culprits of diabetes include lack of exercise, age factors (those over 45years), emotional stress and smoking. The less active you are, the greater your chances of acquiring diabetes. Spending much of your time in a static position is not healthy. Research studies have shown that those at least 45 years of age are more susceptible to suffer from this chronic disease. A busy and tight schedule will cause stress on you both physically and emotionally, and if not managed well will increase your risk of getting]acquiring diabetes.

Smokers are at higher risk because their unhealthy habit causes a lot of strain on the body making it prone to many illnesses to include diabetes Type 2. Some virus types can also be a cause, especially virus types which attack the functionality of the pancreas, such as Coxsackie B.
